Located only two hours north of Melbourne, the area features magnificent food and wine, glorious weather and all the attractions and activities you could imagine in a regional city. Close proximity to other towns and attractions, makes it a great base for film crews. Anything which a film maker would need may be quickly obtained, and Shepparton Airport just minutes away.
Indigo
The towns of Indigo Shire have a great range of services available to assist film makers. Our historic towns are located within close proximity to the larger towns of Albury, Wodonga and Wangaratta. Anything which a film maker would need can be obtained and backed up with ease of access with the Albury Airport.
Benalla
Benalla has a great range of services available to assist film makers. Famous for its beauty, its roses and cultural amenities. Ideally located an easy two hour drive north east of Melbourne. One of its main attractions is its close proximity to other towns and locations, making it a great base for film crews.
Murrindindi
Murrindindi Shire is a collection of welcoming towns and villages, farming country, rolling hills and beautiful valleys. Murrindindi is only one hours drive from Melbourne through lush green valleys and forests of soaring Mountain Ash. The diversity of locations within Murrindindi varies from charred black forests to snow covered mountains to vast lakes. The Murrindindi Shire has a dedicated tourism team at with a great local knowledge willing to provide assistance and showcase their magical region.
Towong
Towong Shire has some of the most captivating scenic valleys with mountain back-drops in Australia in both the Upper Murray and Upper Mitta River Valleys. Combined with legendary characters, abounding wildlife, rugged high country forests, and pioneering historic sites this Shire has untouched potential for film makers. Throughout the breadth of the Shire there is ample commercial accommodation, food and catering services, and local guides to service the needs of scouts, fixers and film makers.
The Towong Shire Council is more than willing to assist any film maker with information, site visits, and sourcing local logistical support to enable film makers to scope-out or proceed with film work.
Wangaratta
Wangaratta is ideally placed on the Hume corridor, within a 3 hour drive of the Melbourne airport and Melbourne’s CBD with the Hume Freeway and national railway station just a 5 minute walk from the CBD. Wangaratta also has a regional airport capable of handling larger planes than most regional airports. The climate is temperate with 4 distinct seasons, sees more sunshine than many other parts of the State and is less than an hour’s drive from the Murray River to the north with its mighty red gum forests to the snow capped mountains to the south.
