Mount Beauty

Overview

An aptly named town, Mount Beauty sits at the base of Victoria's highest mountain, Mt Bogong (1987m) and is a focal point for adventure seekers with a number of bushwalks and trails intertwining across the region.

Mount Beauty is a picturesque village town nestles among the mountians and would be an ideal location for filming.

History

This beautiful little town was planned and created by the State Electricity Commission in the late 1940s, and was originally home to the thousands of workers who built the Kiewa Hydro-electricity Scheme.

The Kiewa Valley was settled by Europeans in 1835. Prior to that time the region was visited annually by six Aboriginal tribes to perform rituals and settle disputes. Groups would congregate at the base of Mt Bogong to collect Bogong Moths.
