Ovens and Happy Valley

Overview
A popular stop-over for travellers for almost 150 years, Ovens still boasts its landmark hotel constructed in 1854, serving good food with a slice of history on the side.
The State forest creates a beautiful backdrop as you drive to Happy Valley, where you'll find a selection of the region's great bed and breakfasts alongside a growing tourism trade including a lavender farm, an olive grove, wineries and orchards.
History
The Ovens and Happy Valley areas have been a thriving farming district since the region was settled during the gold rush days of the mid-1800s.
The feeling of yesteryear can still be experienced at the local Ovens Happy Valley Hotel (1854) still operating and retaining its 19th century charm.
The farming tradition continues today along with the addition of wineries and bed and breakfasts.
