Pyalong

Overview

Pyalong is located on the Northern Highway halfway between Kilmore and Heathcote, near the centre of Victoria. The township contains one of the largest Trestle Bridges in Victoria and is visited by train buffs nation wide. The town has a unique cluster of buildings known as ‘Whitehart’, once part of the Whitehart Hotel.

Pyalong has a strong community spirit and a love for their town, and are probably one of the best equipped small towns within the Mitchell Shire.

History

Pyalong was first settled and named Pyalong in 1838 by the Mollison Brothers. The small township and agricultural district of Pyalong we know today was surveyed and proclaimed in 1854, one hundred and fifty-two years ago.
